DANIELA DELGADO VITERI
Espectáculos variados para eventos varios
(A variety of shows for various events)
Shortfilm, 15 min, 2016
I worked in collaboration with the Sonoonda radio program in Portoviejo (Ecuador), which began its broadcasts at 3:00 am. It was in the days following the 2016 earthquake that destroyed my home. I was far away, and communication with my family was limited. Listening to the radio became the way I found to be close.
I watched as several people with sleeping difficulties called the radio at that time to recite poetry, pray or simply chat with the host. For a month, I also made calls, asking questions to try to understand how we were coping with the tragedy. The short film is a documentation of these radio programmes, with images of a distant city acting as an interlocutor in the spectacle of the tragedy.
